2011 Song Contest Rules

14th Annual Songwriter's Contest

   
2011 Contest Entry Form (PDF)



1. Submit 1 CD with 2 songs per mail-in application, postmarked by Sept. 19, 2011 or submit 2 songs online at ncsongwriters.org by midnight Sept. 26, 2011.

2. You must have written or co-written both songs.

3. Songs must be original in both lyrics and music.

4. Lyric sheet must be included for both songs.

5. You are not eligible to enter if you are a songwriter who has earned more than $10,000 in music royalties.

6. There is no age limit; however, if you are under 18, you must have the signature of a parent/guardian.

7. You may enter as many times as you like. Each entry must have it’s own application, CD with 2 songs, lyric sheets, and fees paid.

8. Eight Finalists will be contacted by mail or email by October 15, 2011. Please do not contact us. Finalists will also be announced on our website.

9. Finalists must be available for the concert on November 5, 2011, at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC. Finalists are responsible for their own transportation, housing and other expenses.

10. Finalist will compete live at the November 5, 2011 concert. You must be one of the musicians/singers. You may have one other musician/singer. No more than two performers will be allowed on stage.

11. First, second and third place will be chosen at the November 5, 2011 concert by a panel of independent judges.

12. You must be a North Carolina resident to enter.

13. NCSC is not responsible for lost entries.
